KSM 7th Humanitarian Programme Flood & Disaster Relief Project – Knuckles / Hunnasgiriya

08 Dec

The Kandy Society of Medicine successfully carried out its humanitarian programme for the seventh consecutive time, extending support to two communities severely affected and displaced by the Ditwa Cyclone in the remote village of Hunnasgiriya, Knuckles.

Donations of clothing, sanitary items, and dry rations were distributed at the camp sites located at Nawanagala Tamil School and the Forest Department Office – Deenstan. More than 200 individuals benefitted from this relief initiative.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Avenue Clothing Pvt Ltd, Kandy, for generously sponsoring brand-new clothing, as well as to all our valued donors both local and international for their thoughtful contributions that made this project possible.

Despite challenging weather conditions and hazardous access roads, KSM President Prof. Arinda Dharmapala, Council Member Dr. Kavinda Amarasinghe, and Dr. P. K. Harischandra – Consultant Transplant Surgeon, travelled from Kandy to Hunnasgiriya to personally participate in this humanitarian mission.

The Forest Officers deserved a special thanks for their support throughout this programme .
